Our Story…
In December 2015, Kathleen and Margot shared a holiday celebration dinner in a local Denver sushi haunt. While catching up on our lives, we realized that though we were on separate paths, had early beginnings in separate economic systems even, we were seeking the very same thing. We were seeking a life of contentment. One not borne of ease and silver spoons and such….nothing like Downton Abbey’s beloved main floor cast…..though we admit we wouldn’t mind being served dinner while bejeweled in gowns. Rather, we were looking for reparation of our pasts and conciliatory beginnings. We were looking for something solid, unnamable and yet just out of reach. We were both versed in the process of self-care via the usual suspects….therapy (either talking with a good friend or professional), exercise, good diet, deep rest, and natural medicine. And yet, there remained a vacancy. This vacancy was a driver for all sorts of mayhem. Excess wine and chocolate, lack of exercise, too much exercise, not enough meals or too many. Each of these vices (if you, as we, are so inclined to call them), were wedded to a murmur of private thrashing. Despite steady hands and strong work in the field of self discovery, we remained wanting. As dinner continued, we dug deeper into the conversation. Wine sipping eased, the whirring forks above the chocolate cake suspended. What we found surprised us both. From the outside we both appeared to be accomplished, well maintained, somewhat practical grown women. And yet on the inside there remained an empty haunting for a life of natural composure….a life of equanimity. And so we asked, not knowing we were lacking it, how do we begin to find mercy for ourselves? Stay tuned to find out how we found it and how you can, too.
